Virtual pilgrimage
In which you don’t necessarily get up and about to make a journey

Collect pictures, memory triggers and online resources, or use an artistic project, to stimulate your imagination to go on a virtual journey. More information can be found in “What is a Virtual Pilgrimage” and click here for an example Virtual pilgrimage.

Domestic pilgrimage
In which you move around a home or garden

Review your current accommodation. Think about the space that is available to you, and consider how you could make a pilgrim journey around it. Click here for an example Domestic pilgrimage, and this page describes a Domestic pilgrimage around a church.

Neighbourhood pilgrimage
A pilgrimage in your immediate locality

Consider your current neighbourhood and think of a journey within it. We can meet with God anywhere, but your chosen goal or destination may facilitate your focus because of what it means to you. Click here for an example Neighbourhood pilgrimage.

Wayfaring Pilgrimage
A pilgrimage in which you explore further abroad

For this, establish a destination that has significance for you. Normally this would be a place at some distance from your current locality, requiring at least one overnight stay, along the route or at the destination. Click here for an example Wayfaring pilgrimage.
